When you hear “judgment,” what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? Commonly, we associate fear and unpleasantness with the word. But though those aren’t wrong, something we often miss is that God’s judgment is a blessing too. It is designed for the protection and care of God’s people. In this section of Jude, we see how God blesses His people by working to root out false teachers from their midst for good.

Here are some key areas where we could use your help: Ushers - FBC is in need of ushers to ensure we can accommodate our increasing attendance. Please contact Dave/Rosemary Hisey and email drhisey@shaw.ca Training will be provided. Bible Quizzing - There are many roles open in this ministry. One of our chief needs is simply for verse listeners. This would involve coming to practice and listening to our Quizzers quote their verses, making sure they’re correct and signing off once they get it. Contact Pastor Joshua if you can lend a hand. Kids Ministry - Whether you want to be in the thick of it as a teacher, or help upstairs with check-in, there’s a spot for you! Contact Pastor Theo to discuss what role you might play. Last Week's Message "Where Is Wisdom Found?" | Aaron Visser Job 28 We all face trials that rock us and bring us low. In these moments, we long for an explanation. Why is this happening? Why me? But what if an explanation isn’t really what we need? In Job 28, we are challenged with a different notion. Wisdom, we are taught, is not knowing why we suffer, but rather fearing the God who does know why. He alone can show us the way to this true wisdom. But unless we know God and know ourselves, any wisdom we claim is vain. Psalm 90 reveals the majesty of the eternal God, and frailness of us as sinful mortals. Though it’s not something we like to reflect on, considering our inevitable death is the key to living wisely in this world. And beyond that, we have hope because the eternal God took on a human nature and died for us, so that we might live and do works that will last into eternity. Last Week's Message "The Danger of Distraction" | Ron Halliday Psalm 73 Life comes at us rapidly and with many difficulties. When this inevitably happens, where do you turn? What keeps you steady? In Psalm 73, we find a man weighed down by distractions. The wicked seem to prosper, and serving God seems to be in vain. But being in God’s presence with God’s people proves to be the answer. Whatever distractions you find in your life, you can find solace in God’s sanctuary too. Last Week's Message "Warning Signs" | Bryan McIver Jude 1-10 Sometimes, something is serious enough to make us change course. This is where Jude found himself as he prepared to write his letter. He wanted to write in celebration of the Gospel, but the presence of false teachers necessitated a response. In this passage, we find warning signs that we’ve been infiltrated. The call for us is the same as for those back then: contend for the faith.
