One of our chief needs is simply for verse listeners. Last Week's Message "Redemption Greater Than Our Sin" | Aaron Visser Psalm 130 Throughout this life, various trials can make us feel as if we are in the depths. But no depth is greater than the one we feel when we recognize our sin in light of God’s holiness. If God were to keep a record of our sins, we would have no hope. But with God, in Christ, there is forgiveness. That is why we can serve God, and that is why even when the night feels long, we can still look to God with confidence, because we know the morning of our full redemption is coming. | Aaron Visser Job 28 We all face trials that rock us and bring us low. In these moments, we long for an explanation. Why is this happening? Why me? But what if an explanation isn’t really what we need? In Job 28, we are challenged with a different notion. Wisdom, we are taught, is not knowing why we suffer, but rather fearing the God who does know why. He alone can show us the way to this true wisdom. | Saulo Castro Psalm 90 Wisdom can mean many things to this world. But unless we know God and know ourselves, any wisdom we claim is vain. Psalm 90 reveals the majesty of the eternal God, and frailness of us as sinful mortals. Though it’s not something we like to reflect on, considering our inevitable death is the key to living wisely in this world. And beyond that, we have hope because the eternal God took on a human nature and died for us, so that we might live and do works that will last into eternity. In Psalm 73, we find a man weighed down by distractions. The wicked seem to prosper, and serving God seems to be in vain. But being in God’s presence with God’s people proves to be the answer. Whatever distractions you find in your life, you can find solace in God’s sanctuary too. But though those aren’t wrong, something we often miss is that God’s judgment is a blessing too. It is designed for the protection and care of God’s people. He wanted to write in celebration of the Gospel, but the presence of false teachers necessitated a response. In this passage, we find warning signs that we’ve been infiltrated. But no depth is greater than the one we feel when we recognize our sin in light of God’s holiness. If God were to keep a record of our sins, we would have no hope. But with God, in Christ, there is forgiveness. That is why we can serve God, and that is why even when the night feels long, we can still look to God with confidence, because we know the morning of our full redemption is coming. But what if an explanation isn’t really what we need? In Job 28, we are challenged with a different notion. | Saulo Castro Psalm 90 Wisdom can mean many things to this world. But unless we know God and know ourselves, any wisdom we claim is vain. Psalm 90 reveals the majesty of the eternal God, and frailness of us as sinful mortals. Though it’s not something we like to reflect on, considering our inevitable death is the key to living wisely in this world. And beyond that, we have hope because the eternal God took on a human nature and died for us, so that we might live and do works that will last into eternity. | Saulo Castro Psalm 90 Wisdom can mean many things to this world. But unless we know God and know ourselves, any wisdom we claim is vain. Psalm 90 reveals the majesty of the eternal God, and frailness of us as sinful mortals. Though it’s not something we like to reflect on, considering our inevitable death is the key to living wisely in this world. And beyond that, we have hope because the eternal God took on a human nature and died for us, so that we might live and do works that will last into eternity.
