  • Life Group Launch - various days/locations. This week, groups start up and begin walking through the Gospel of John together. Follow this link to pick a group for this year:

  • 10:00am Worship Service - Join us as we praise the Lord and open the Word together. We’ll also have a baby dedication this service!

  • Bible Quizzing Practice - 6:30pm. Quizzers, come with your John 1 & 2 verses memorized and ready to quote and quiz! Contact Pastor Joshua 📖
Tuesday, September 22nd
  • Ladies’ Prayer Time - 10am at the church 🙏
  • Apologetics Class 📔- 6:30pm at the church. This will be the first of 5 sessions covering key questions in defending the faith. The course runs on Tuesday evenings from September 22nd-October 27th, with a break for Thanksgiving. There’s still time to sign up! You can do so here:

Here are some key areas where we could use your help:

  • Ushers - FBC is in need of ushers to ensure we can accommodate our increasing attendance. Please contact Dave/Rosemary Hisey and email drhisey@shaw.ca Training will be provided.
  • Bible Quizzing - There are many roles open in this ministry. One of our chief needs is simply for verse listeners. This would involve coming to practice and listening to our Quizzers quote their verses, making sure they’re correct and signing off once they get it. Contact Pastor Joshua if you can lend a hand.
  • Kids Ministry - Whether you want to be in the thick of it as a teacher, or help upstairs with check-in, there’s a spot for you! Contact Pastor Theo to discuss what role you might play.
  • AV - Our sound and computer people play an important role in our Sunday services, even if unseen. If you’re interested in taking on some slots, please contact Pastor Theo

Do you ever wish that you could hear from the Lord more clearly? Would you still want that if He spoke about your sin, confronted your idols, and called you to greater faithfulness? We tend to like God’s Word as long as it doesn’t challenge us, but that is precisely what we need! When God sent His prophet Micah, it was with a heavy word. But that itself is grace, because God warns before He punishes. So, even if it’s uncomfortable, let us pay heed to His Word and especially how God has ultimately spoken: through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Last Week's Message "Redemption Greater Than Our Sin" | Aaron Visser Psalm 130 Throughout this life, various trials can make us feel as if we are in the depths. But no depth is greater than the one we feel when we recognize our sin in light of God’s holiness. If God were to keep a record of our sins, we would have no hope. But with God, in Christ, there is forgiveness. That is why we can serve God, and that is why even when the night feels long, we can still look to God with confidence, because we know the morning of our full redemption is coming. But what if an explanation isn’t really what we need? In Job 28, we are challenged with a different notion. Wisdom, we are taught, is not knowing why we suffer, but rather fearing the God who does know why. He alone can show us the way to this true wisdom. But unless we know God and know ourselves, any wisdom we claim is vain. Psalm 90 reveals the majesty of the eternal God, and frailness of us as sinful mortals. Though it’s not something we like to reflect on, considering our inevitable death is the key to living wisely in this world. And beyond that, we have hope because the eternal God took on a human nature and died for us, so that we might live and do works that will last into eternity. Last Week's Message "The Danger of Distraction" | Ron Halliday Psalm 73 Life comes at us rapidly and with many difficulties. When this inevitably happens, where do you turn? What keeps you steady? In Psalm 73, we find a man weighed down by distractions. The wicked seem to prosper, and serving God seems to be in vain. But being in God’s presence with God’s people proves to be the answer. Whatever distractions you find in your life, you can find solace in God’s sanctuary too. Commonly, we associate fear and unpleasantness with the word. But though those aren’t wrong, something we often miss is that God’s judgment is a blessing too. It is designed for the protection and care of God’s people. In this section of Jude, we see how God blesses His people by working to root out false teachers from their midst for good. He wanted to write in celebration of the Gospel, but the presence of false teachers necessitated a response. In this passage, we find warning signs that we’ve been infiltrated.
